I can’t seem to complete anything. I have half-written bits saved here and there in various files. I have a patch 3/4 sewn over a tear in my coat. I have a stack of stuff that I occasionally tackle and reduce by half each time. I have a few more recipes to add to my notebook. Three post-it notes of things to add to another notebook. Five site-related things to do. Two emails to send. A friend to call. A kitchen to clean more thoroughly. And what do I do? I do my nails, and then start a cross-stitch project that will take me years to complete (at this rate, anyway).

tl;dr: I make no sense at all.

My house burned to the ground on November 17. Since then, I’ve been rebuilding a life, and working my way through the trauma. I’m okay.

For awhile, I felt like I couldn’t do anything but just exist. I didn’t write anything anywhere, and it was all I could do to reply to concerned messages. I can write again, so that’s progress.

Life is a new kind of normal, now.

Oh, Facebook.

Post-election, I am incredibly relieved that the American people chose civil liberties over religion (essentially). I thought that my Facebook feed would finally start to calm down. It has not.

Thank you, Facebook, for showing me which of my “friends” lack grace and dignity.

I love my phone’s camera.

I should be working on my World Lit mini-essays, but I’m ~~procrastinating~~ taking a break. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than good ol’ Twenty Eleven.

I think I have most of the wrinkles ironed out on the server, who has become known as Jarvis. I’ll keep playing around with things as I get time, and fix whatever isn’t happy as I find it.

I just need a little more time!
