I am an Eskimo. The common reaction to this is, “Oh, you’re Inuit!” I’m not, actually. I’m Yup’ik. Would you like to learn the difference?

My name is not Jill. I used to be called “Eskimo Joe” in high school. When I went to college, and picked my first online username, I adapted it to be more feminine. I will answer to Jill, though. I’ve written as Jill for years, and I’ve even received mail as Jill.

EskimoJill.com was my second domain, first registered in 2003. My first and most beloved blog died in a computer crash, and my host had no backups. I was relatively new to CMSs, so I had no idea how to create my own backups, and lost everything. I immediately changed hosts, registered EskimoJill.com, and started anew. I’ve had other domains over the years, but I’m glad to come back to this one.
